The 2nd wheel is powered by the center wheel. The minute wheel is also on the same axle as the 2nd wheel. The 2nd wheel turns the escape wheels pinion. The escape wheel's second hand also serves as the cap on the pinion. It is flush with the ends of the trundles. At the top of the picture is the pallets and crutch.
